Sourcing batteries from China offers 30-50% cost advantages — but only if you work with the right supplier. After 12+ years exporting from Chongqing, here's the practical checklist our team uses when vetting partners.
1. Verify the factory, not the trading company
Request their business license and factory photos. Cross-check the address on Baidu Maps. A genuine Tier-1 manufacturer will have 10,000+ m² of production space and welcome factory audits.
2. Check certifications, not just marketing claims
Look for actual certificates: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UL, CE, UN38.3, MSDS. Expired or fabricated certificates are common red flags.
3. Test samples before bulk order
Never skip the sample stage. Real manufacturers provide 5-10 sample units for evaluation. Test cycle life, capacity, internal resistance, and BMS behavior under real load.
4. Visit or send a third-party inspector
Before releasing the deposit, hire a QC firm (SGS, BV, TUV) to inspect the production line and confirm capacity claims.
5. Negotiate warranty terms in writing
3-5 years product warranty is industry standard. Get the warranty document on company letterhead, signed and stamped.
6. Confirm shipping and Incoterms
FOB Shenzhen / FOB Shanghai is most common. Clarify who handles export documentation, customs clearance at destination, and warranty replacement logistics.
7. Look for engineering depth
A real factory has 30+ R&D engineers, custom BMS firmware capability, and a documented QA process. Trading companies rarely have these.
